Tourism in Sogndal

De Heibergske samlingarSogndal is conveniently located as a starting point for trips to mountains, fjords and glaciers. During the summer tourists arrive in great numbers to experience the Sogn region. The 1,400 beds in its hotels, pensions, cabins and private accommodation, enable the town to host large conferences.

The town also has the following tourist attractions:

· De Heibergske Samlinger– Sogn Folkemuseum and Sogn Fjordmuseum at Kaupanger which
demonstrate life along the Sognefjorden during the latest 300 years.
· Kaupanger stavkyrkjethe biggest stave church in Sogn, built around 1200 AD.
· Norsk Bremuseum in Fjærland– a museum with “hands on” activities, which has won many awards
and where you can learn about snow, ice and glaciers.
· Den norske bokbyen in Fjærland, with various second hand bookshops, antiquaries and book cafes.
